Thursday, July 8th, 2010Official Opening of McClay Library, Queen’s University Belfast
Thursday, July 8th, 2010Northern Ireland’s newest landmark building, the £50million McClay Library, Queen’s University Belfast – was officially opened this week by one of their most famous alumni, Nobel prize-winning poet Seamus Heaney. The management and staff at Specialist Joinery Group are exceptionally proud of their involvement in this highly prestigious project. The project gave us the opportunity to work with Boston based Architectural Practice Shepley Bulfinch and Belfast based Robinson Patterson Partnership.
The McClay Library is the centrepiece of a transformed campus which enables Queen’s to fulfil its ambition to provide a world-class educational experience for current and future generations of students from around the world. The impressive building accommodates 2,000 reader places. The desk design integrated lighting, power and data, to ensure the furniture met the needs of the modern student. Specialist Joinery Group delivered our element of the works to time, budget and quality, resulting in a highly satisfied client.
