Specialist Joinery Group are proud to be associated with a landmark project such as Terminal 2 Dublin Airport. The new second terminal has cost around €690m and will be capable of comfortably handling up to 15 million passengers per year. The terminal is designed to meet the needs of both long-haul and short-haul passengers and airlines. Making use of natural light, it will create a bright airy space for passengers that is calm and relaxing
We successfully delivered this project, in partnership with PJ Hegarty & Sons, who we have previously worked with, most recently on the highly prestigious Central Criminal Courts, Dublin. As well as reinforce old relationships, Specialist Joinery Group were delighted to successfully form new relationships with international players such as Davis Langdon PKS, Mace Construction Management and Pascall+Watson Architects.
Complexities
Due to the scale of the project, Specialist Joinery Group were involved in detailing programming to ensure project delivery to within a strict timescale.
Sophisticated installations such as baggage handling units and security, demanded that Specialist Joinery Group staff attend special site induction training delivered by Siemens, as not to compromise site progress. Working around such sophisticated installations requires a greater attention to detail to ensure that no damage is caused to other sub contractors work. We are proud of our staff’s meticulous attention to detail and the level of respect shown for co-workers. The nature close proximity of our installation at the check in desks, required constant liaison between our Contracts Managers and Siemens to agree working timetables. To ensure our operations didn’t impede their site progress the Specialist Joinery Team agreed to work a night shift pattern. This approach ensured delivery of the project within the programme.
