The Client’s Design Team, were highly experienced in projects of this calibre, meaning they understood the complexities of our installations, and we were able to work proactively together, to ensure client expectations were met and exceeded.
The quality of the materials and aesthetics, were highly important, equally so the functionality of the building. The library is a functioning space for law professionals to research and is used frequently, therefore Specialist Joinery were able to advise on the most suitable timber (Oak).

Complexities
Given the prominent location (beside the law courts) and purpose of the building (for legal practitioners/ crown prosecutors) to research case and statue law, the long term security of the building has to be considered. The reception desks for the library integrated access control, communications and CCTV system, requiring large amounts of cabling. This required detailed coordination between Specialist Joinery Group and the M&E Engineers to ensure suitable voids were created to facilitate cables meeting floor boxes etc.
Specialist Joinery Group worked in conjunction with the client’s design team to ensure that only timber from sustainable sources was used.
Detailed samples and mock ups were produced for client sign off, in advance of the final order being given. This approach ensures client satisfaction.

Having this successfully completed high quality project in our portfolio, allowed us to use this as a reference project in a successful bid for Queens University Library Belfast. (Completed in 2009)
