On Friday the 20th of July Specialist Joinery Group held our annual team building day which this year was competing in the Specialist Office Olympics. All work was completed by 1pm so that our entire 220 staff from Specialist HQ, our Dublin and London Offices and all our international projects could come together to battle it out for the coveted silverware.
This was no run of the mill team building experience, the day was full of unique and unusual challenges which combined athletic prowess with ingenuity and of course team work, think Total Wipe-out meets Sports day!
After being split into 11 teams, each with their own colours we battled it out across over a dozen events that included Welly Skiing, Dizzy Stars , Zorb Gauntlet, Segway racing, Frisbee Challenge, assault course race, rampage run, stump and sponges, 4 header buckets and more. As expected our Specialists all wanted to win making for a very heated and hilarious competition. Have a look at the video below for some highlights of the games.
At the end of the games we were left with our top 3 teams of the day. Scrambled legs led by Peter Farrell took bronze, Smells like team Spirit took home silver led by team Captain Fionn Hamill and the One Hit Wonders led by Dave Owens won the coveted gold medal.
There were also some individual winners who were rewarded for their contributions to their teams on the day. Liam Doherty of the Dangerous Dynamos was awarded the team spirit award. Gary Sargent of Not Fast Just Furious picked up “positive participation” Karen Trainor of the pink flamingos won the “Shining Star” award, the Exel-arators Ciaran O’Hagan lifted “one to watch” Phil Porter of Straight of the Couch was awarded the ‘like a boss’ title Whilst Anthony McKenna who was part of the winning One Hit Wonders picked up the “ fast starter” award.
After the prize giving a delicious Barbeque was provided by the excellent Arbutus Catering company to top of a brilliant day.
Specialist Joinery group would like to congratulate the winners and everybody who took part for making the day such a success and would also like to thank The Jungle NI for their fantastic hospitality and Arbutus who were brilliant as always.
