Specialist Joinery Group’s Academy has gained further important industry recognition. This week it was announced as a finalist in the “Skills Initiative” category at the highly respected Building Awards.
Specialist Joinery Group launched the Specialist Academy, a dedicated training facility with the objective of securing their craftskills base and enabling the company to continue on their business excellence journey. This considerable investment is already paying dividends and has won the company the opportunity to compete at the most respected award events in the building industry.
The company is pitching against an impressive list of industry peers, which includes; Wates, HLM, Atkins, Crest Nicholson, Curtins, Hotchkiss, ISG, John Rowan and Partners and WSP- Parsons Brinckerhoff in one of the most hotly contested categories.

As well as competing in the “Skills Initiative” category on the night the Specialist Team will be supporting their industry partners who are also Finalists – BW: Workplace Experts, Graham Construction, Berkeley Group, Wates, Mace, Scott Brownrigg, Patel Taylor and Peregrine Bryant.
Wider Project Success
In terms of project success, The Royal Hospital Chelsea is a finalist for “Refurbishment Project of the Year” and the Albert Sloman Library and Silberrad Student Centre at Essex University is a finalist for “Project of the Year.” – Specialist Joinery Group were involved in both projects as construction partners with the Main Contractors.
