Specialist crowned Kings of London Construction after thrilling 7s win.

Team Specialist returned triumphant from the Berkeley Foundation Charity 7s tournament in London after a thrilling final against Maylim.

The competition was held at Hazelwood, the home of London Irish and the event organisation was assisted by London GAA.  The tournament raises in the order of £100,000 every year for the Berkeley Foundation, which goes towards tackling a range of social issues from homelessness to youth unemployment.

After qualifying from the group stage with a narrow last minute win in the first round against a highly rated Murphy’s team, Specialist went from strength to strength.

A tough semi final against an experienced Midlands team, tested the Specialist 7s side who recently formed for this competition.   The final went down to the wire, with Specialist holding out to win by 2 points. An exciting game which finished 3-16 to 5-8 after an absorbing 20 minutes of free flowing football.

Special thanks to Kieran Kennedy, Managing Director of O’Neills Sports for his help and assistance.

The group hopes to continue their winning streak this week in an entirely different arena after receiving nominations in several national awards competitions – Aer Lingus Viscount Awards and  Building Awards.
