Specialist Joinery Group triumphed at the tenth annual Irish News Workplace and Employment awards, scooping an award in the hotly contested “Green Award” category.
The company’s award submission celebrated their growth and success, achieved through environmental advocacy and by adoption of a companywide environmental agenda “Vision 2020.” The mid ulster based manufacturing company, have a dazzling client portfolio, which features prominent environmental campaigners, WWF- World Wildlife Fund and a host of known brands such as Estee Lauder, Rolls Royce, Google and National Grid Plc.
A splendid evening
Titanic Belfast, was buzzing with anticipation at the tenth annual awards, which brought together the best in Irish business to go head to head for just 9 awards. This globally successful visitor attraction provides the ideal backdrop to celebrate the best of Northern Ireland and Specialist Joinery Group have a unique link to the building, as they were part of the construction team who completed the £50m project in 2012.
Guests dined on local fayre in the extravagant banqueting suite, the focal point of which is the iconic replica titanic staircase.
BBC Northern Ireland’s Karen Patterson officiated throughout the evening and she was joined on stage after dinner by the notorious comic Patrick Kielty who presided over formalities.
International business woman Alyson Hogg of Vita Liberata shared her story of entrepreneurship in a wonderful after dinner speech, giving valuable insight to all those in attendance.
Making company history
This was the first time in Group history, that the company was represented by an all-female delegation. The construction and joinery industries have been traditionally male dominated working environments. Specialist Joinery Group invest heavily in workforce equality and diversity and they send an important message through their representation on the night.
