Specialist send best wishes to new Derry GAA Sponsors

Our partnership with Derry GAA was publicly launched on Saturday 4th February 2012.  This alliance marked the return of the sponsorship to a Derry based company with core values that complement the volunteer ethos of the GAA. The sponsorship has successfully demonstrated our commitment to our local community and although a “corporate sponsorship” by nature, our aim was to extend the Specialist Joinery Group family.

During our tenure Derry GAA has raised our global profile. Derry fans have sported our brand at the 2012 London Olympics, 2014 World Cup and it’s been to Mount Everest and the Amazon Rainforest. It’s difficult to put a tangible measure on the benefit of sponsorship but when travelling around Ireland to support the team, we’ve been greeted by generous hospitality and goodwill.

Highlights of our partnership have been winning the 2013 Allianz NFL division 2, O’Fiaich Cup 2014, Ulster minor football championship 2015 and Ulster minor hurling league 2015. Also our appearance in the 2014 Allianz NFL Division 1 final, 2015 Christy Ring final and Ulster Senior hurling final. We commend the dedication of our players; hurlers and footballers, their management and back room teams who give so generously of their time. It has been our honour to represent you.

During our time as sponsors Specialist Joinery Group has gone from strength to strength. In 2013 we opened newly extended manufacturing facilities which coincided with our 25th year in business. Our focus remains on international construction, with a portfolio of projects which extends across Ireland, the United Kingdom and Europe. Our client list includes bluechip companies like Rolls Royce, GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Estee Lauder and Google.  This success is powered by our people. A local workforce and skills base, who are determined to lead the European joinery industry.

Throughout the sponsorship we have continued our work with many other local organisations and international charities. We are committed to a diverse range of charity projects, sporting teams, local community groups and educational partnerships, who all form part of the extended Specialist Joinery Group family.

Like the GAA we are passionate about training and development, providing long term employment and definite pathways of career progression.  We have established a dedicated training academy at our Maghera Headquarters to ensure that we maintain the level of skill and craftsmanship in the workforce required for the next generation of Specialists.

We thank the Derry County board for their professionalism in managing our partnership and for creating a place for Specialist Joinery Group in their vision for Derry GAA. In particular we extend our thanks to Kieran Kennedy of O’Neills Sports, John Keenan, Brian Smith, Brian McIver, Danny Scullion, Gerry Donnelly, Dermot McPeake, Liam Peoples, Pauline McLaughlin, Colm O’Kane and various committees.

We pay special tribute to the late Anthony McSwiggan, part of the original team who secured our Sponsorship in 2012 and also to the late Johnny Burke a former trustee of Owenbeg. These men were guardians of the association in our county and it is their legacy which we benefit from today.

Congratulations to H&A and Derry GAA in their partnership. This sponsorship reflects the core values and community ethos of the GAA. Like Specialist, H&A are strongly committed to their community and a major local employer. We wish Hugh and Anne, their family and business continued success.
